Loveland Celebrates the Season!

We’ve waited all year! The most exciting community celebration is back! Tonight, we are celebrating Christmas in Loveland in our own special way! This evening the community has the opportunity to come together to make a statement that we are not all that different from each other. We have great things left for this country and especially for this city. We gather around the bonfire downtown and we sing carols to celebrate the birth of our Lord, but it should also be about the opportunity to reach out to those …

2011 Memorial Day Parade

From our vantage point along Wall Street, we enjoyed the Loveland Memorial Day Parade. We arrived around 8:30 and still had plenty of time to set up our chairs and cameras. It was our first parade since we’ve been here in Loveland, so we were pretty excited. As the time neared 9am, we watched as families approached and staked out their spots along Loveland Avenue. The parade lasted about 20 minutes, but we got to see the Loveland Band and Premier Tumbling, along with the Shriners mini cars racing through …

Saturday the community unveiled their newest treasure, Avery Foster, the 2011 Loveland Valentine Lady! In a short, but wonderful ceremony, The Loveland Chamber and several City of Loveland officials were present to honor Valentine Ladies, both past and present. The position of Loveland Valentine Lady is a time honored position and quite a responsibility for the winner. In addition, the winner of the official Loveland Valentine card design was announced. This years winner was artist Nancy Sullivan.
It was a sea of beauty in red as past Ladies gathered before …

Looking back and being thankful for 2010

As I sit here on Thanksgiving Morning, I look back over this last year and am so thankful for so many things in my life. All Around Loveland was a project we started when we moved here because we really enjoy the small town life. We certainly haven’t been disappointed either. This has been a great way for us to get out and meet the people that make this town the charming and inviting place that it is. We feel blessed that wherever we go, it seems people know us …

Loveland Dairy Whip Celebrating Serving Loveland for 55 Years

Do you remember when the Post Office and the Sohio Station operated at the corner of W. Loveland and Oak Street (now Loveland Madeira)? Do you remember when the newest business in Loveland was to open at this same corner? If you do, you must have been born before 1955.
The “Dairy Whip Drive-In” as Mrs. Brennan (the original owner) put it, opened July 8, 1955. The Loveland Dairy Whip is celebrating its 55th anniversary the weekend of July 9th 2010. The Dairy Whip has been serving soft …

All Around Loveland was lucky enough to be invited to an event that happened Friday Night at the Great Sands Volleyball complex. We were there when family and friends welcomed home local hero CPL Seth Jenkins. When Seth arrived, Grand Sands stopped play and announced who he was and there was a spontaneous standing ovation. Talking with Seth, I’m sure he is very humbled by the response, but I for one am very humbled that a man I don’t know would go to a country he knew little about to …

The Sights and Sounds of Loveland as March rolls in!

First Friday in March! You can tell it’s Lent, as the Catholic Churches are in full swing on the Fish Fry season.
This evening, Vickie and I decided to take advantage of the Lenten season and try to find a fish fry in town. We knew of two for sure, St Columban just off of 48 and the one we actually ended up at, St Margaret of York at 9483 Columbia Road.
