Gardening Workshop for Novice Gardeners
Saturday, September 15, 9 – 11 a.m.
This workshop came about because someone asked if I would offer gardening lessons for individuals. Gardening is actually so easy if you just know a few basics and have someone to call when you have a question. This workshop is an introduction to backyard gardening. Where it will go from here, depends on what the participants request. We’ll be in my backyard, next door to the school gardens.

Summer Harvest Fest at Farmer Market

Well, it took forever for us to be able to pull this story together, but we wanted to tell the vendors and management of the Loveland Farmers Market how much fun it was! I hear there might be one this fall, so keep your ears open. We attended a good portion of the event last week and we had so much fun. We participated in the Watermelon seed spitting, but alas there were more talented lips than ours.

Summer Harvest at Farmers Market

We made it out to the Loveland Farmers Market this week again and caught some photos of the crops that are finally coming in larger quantities. Delicious looking tomatoes, corn and lots of other seasonal vegetables to choose from. It’s exciting to see a Farmers Market here in Loveland. We have a great Krogers here in town, but having the opportunity to pick up fresh, pesticide free locally grown vegetables is a level above what they can offer on a regular basis. Congrats Ana Downes! Loveland Recycles!

In 2010, Loveland residents recycled 1,180.5 tons of metal, glass, paper, and plastic, an increase of 141 more tons than in 2009. Loveland residents recycled 19.98% of their total waste stream in 2010, up from 16.85% in 2009.
The City of Loveland’s 2010 Management Intern, Ana Downes, earned high praise from City officials for creating and executing the “Go Green. Stay Clean.” marketing campaign.
