Sunday in the park – June 13
Ah, it’s a warm, muggy day in Downtown Loveland Ohio. However, I’ll take it! It has been quite cloudy and we’ve been busy working on a website! So, this was the first day we had a chance to get out. Today, the downtown area was filled with music. Different kinds, different places, but it was all quite good.
We just caught the end of The Moxie Blues band, so we cannot say much about them, except we want to make a point of getting to see them next time we hear they are in town. We did hear a few minutes of Tom Schickel and got a chance to meet him afterward. Tom is a very pleasant young man who seems to have it going on with the keyboard! I think we will be making a trip to his next venue as well.
The music was part of a program called Second Sunday, which will be running June, July & August. The band sets up in the courtyard behind Liberty City BBQ, Loveland Music and Blue Chip Cookies. Since they will be back, watch the site to find out more about who will be there. There was plenty of seating, so don’t be afraid to come down for the entertainment, there’s plenty of food within steps of the music. You can throw your canvas chair in the car, just in case the word gets out and the crowd swells next month!
So, on to the food. We ate at Liberty City BBQ and man was it good. This was our first chance for the year, so we were hankering for some awesome BBQ and Tico didn’t let us down! I had the chicken & pulled pork & Vickie had a pulled pork sandwich. We were disappointed that he was out of macaroni & cheese, but I quickly went for the beans, which were very good, hardly a second choice! We look forward to spending more time down on the trail, helping them to spread the word. We are trying to get an interview with Tico & Terrell soon, so keep an eye out!
Apparently, we missed the Loveland Art Council’s “Paint the Town” event. It was in the grassy area next to Ronckers Running Spot on Loveland Avenue. It’s a yearly event, so hopefully next year, the Arts Council will give us the 411 before the event.
At 6PM, Second Wind hit the amphitheater stage, playing covers from all your favorite bands of the 60′s & 70′s. The band had a horn section that really highlighted some of the great tunes from that era. If you get the chance to make it to one of their shows, it is definitely worth the time. I certainly respect any band that can sound that good in an open air park like Nisbet. I was at about 270 degrees from the lead singer and they sounded pretty darn good, even from where I sat!
All in all, it was a wonderful afternoon. If we weren’t committed to getting the website finished, we would have loved to stay until the end. Of course, the trip home on a hot June Sunday could not have complete without a trip to the Loveland Dairy Whip! Delicious, as always!
