Ribbon Cutting: Whistle Stop Clay Works

17 July 2010 120 views No Comment

Young and old gathered at Whistle Stop Clay Works on July 15 at 5pm for the Grand Opening/Ribbon Cutting ceremony. Hosts Kay and Tim Bolin and Missie McCormick mingled and chatted with their guests until the ribbon was ready to be cut. At the appointed time, guests were called to gather around the big sign for the cutting and pictures (and video, of course). As the honored guests were stretching the ribbon and opening the scissors, at the last second, pieces of pottery that had been on display were handed to the front row, which gave a beautifully artistic touch to the photos. On the count of three, the ribbon was cut and thrown into the air amidst cheers. (No pottery was broken in the process of this celebration.)

After the main event, people continued to mingle, enjoying the meat, cheese and fruit trays, as well as wine. Missy began to spin some clay, and was soon surrounded. The children were fascinated, bending close to her to see and hear her demonstration.

Also in attendance were several members of the Chamber Ambassador Committee: John Caldwell, Caldwell Insurance; Vickie Sceifers, VS Productions; Deb Harp, American Family Insurance and Nancy Kaufman, Huntington Bank. Other local business members were represented as well, such as Deirdre Dyson, Art House II; and Linda Sporing-Lay, of Remax Unlimited.

A grand time was had by all!
