The City of Loveland is pleased to announce that it has been selected to host a Friendship Concert as a part of the 2012 World Choir Games. The concert will be held at Nisbet Park on Friday, July 13, 2012 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The concert, which is sponsored by Loveland Chiropractic, is free and open to all.

The World Choir Games, the largest choral music competition in the world, takes place every two years. The 7th World Choir Games will be held in Cincinnati, Ohio, from July 4-14, 2012. This is the first time the event will have been held in North America. More than 20,000 participants, including as many as 400 choirs, from more than 70 countries will compete in 23 categories of choral music. Inspired by the Olympic ideal, the goal of the World Choir Games is to unite people from all nations through singing in peaceful competition.

An important feature of the World Choir Games is the “Friendship Concert” provided by many of the participating choirs. These concerts create opportunities for the Cincinnati Organizing Committee to enable people from throughout the community to experience the Games for no cost. Interested communities had to apply in early 2012 and were selected based on ability to offer participating choirs a unique experience and a high level of exposure.

The four choirs selected to perform in Loveland represent a mix of international and regional acts. The international participants are A Cappella Showcase from Canada and Guilin Aiyi Chorus from China. The Dearborn Community Chorus from Michigan and the Memorial High School Choir from Northwest Ohio are regional participants. The Loveland Area Chamber of Commerce, the City of Loveland and Loveland Chiropractic have made this once-in-a-lifetime event possible.
