Christmas in Loveland 2009

5 December 2009 970 views No Comment

Saturday December 19th, 4PM-9PM

Christmas is such a wonderful time of the year. They’ve written songs about it, both religious and secular. It is a time that softens hearts and lifts people spirits. It is a time when Christians celebrate the coming of the Savior of the world. A baby, that changed everything, for all time. Redemption had come into the world to restore that which man gave away in the Garden of Eden. The Christmas season has also become a great time of giving and celebration for all people. It is this season that Loveland will celebrate on December 19th!

In Loveland, we celebrate in our own special way. There are traditions that have been around for years and even a few that are new this year. The City of Loveland, area businesses and churches invite you and your family to come make our celebration part of your family’s tradition for the season. There is something for just about everyone, from carriage rides to roasting chestnuts, from singing choirs to story time for the children. We would like to encourage you and your family to spend a few hours enjoying the sights and sounds of Christmas in Loveland!

We want to thank HistoricLoveland.com for alerting us to the event. That is where we first saw it. This is the first year we have lived in Loveland and are looking forward to spending the day downtown, visiting the shops and streets to truly experience Christmas in Loveland.

Highlights

The Running Spot Stage will have Choirs singing all evening from 4 to 8PM with the big community sing along at 8:30PM. We need your voice to complete the chorus, so don’t miss out!

New Hope Baptist Church will have their Live Nativity, with a animal petting area for children. They will conduct a Community Prayer at 7PM!

There will be a bonfire between the Live Nativity & the Running Spot Stage where Jim Fierro will be roasting chestnuts on the open fire. I’ve never had them, so I look forward to seeing if they are really worth singing about.

The Loveland Stage Company will be offering up Sleigh Bells Swing at 5, 6 and 7PM. Donations are welcome.

There will be a children’s train to ferry them from the nativity area to the North Pole near Loveland Canoe & Kayak. They will have a beautiful train display and the kids can meet Buddy the Elf!

Pizazz Studios will have elves available to paint faces and teach crafts. Just up the street, Blue Chip Gourmet has sweet gifts for children under 10. Tano’s Bistro, a brand new participant, will be serving up Christmas bread pudding. Children can listen to stories from Usborne Books across the street.

The William Schickel Gallery and Loveland Music Coop will be open, showing their offerings. The Loveland Music Academy will have continuous performances and refreshments. Comey & Shepherd and Steve Brown Insurance will be open, so stop in and see them.

To round out the downtown area, The Works & Paxtons have great food & good cheer to suit the occasion.

Take the horse drawn carriage ride across the torch lined bridge for tours of Bonaventure, children’s activities in the Rich Log Cabin–the oldest existing structure in the region– and listen to the wonderful music, and explore our community’s history! The Greater Loveland Historical Society Museum is looking forward to spending time with your family.

The next stop on the tour takes you to Loveland Art Studios on Main, which are opening up over 35 studios to share local artists work for the holidays. There will also be live entertainment!

It’s hard to believe you’ll be able to see all of the wonderful things going on in just 5 hours, so get there early and spread out. We want everyone to have a chance to participate and enjoy their time. We think it will be an awesome time of family fun and a chance to meet some great people who live and work in Loveland! We’ll see you there!
